OVERJIVE BAND Flavors A Cool Mix In The Music Landscape

share

The OVERJIVE Band is getting more recognition by playing a fusion of music genre from OPM alternative rock, 80’s new wave, Manila sound, and covers the classic Beatles songs – at times giving these a surprisingly new twist.  On stage, the audience could not simply ignore their powerful performances.

Mendira.net met Overjive in a recent battle of the bands competition where they placed among the winners.  This feat came as a surprise to its members who admittedly are not really into joining competitions, but wanting only to have their original compositions be heard in public. Their original materials are inspiring and lyrics affirming to Filipino heritage and resiliency.  This, perhaps, is their crystal clear advantage over others in their circle.

Overjive hit the music scene in 2011.  With vast appeal, the band is composed of frontman Joseph Malabanan on vocals, Rikki Samson on lead guitar, Mhaking Samson on rhythm, Marlon Miguel on bass, and Gian de Leon on drums.   They say that their adrenalin kick comes from the audience, with a high sense of appreciation to their talent. Some would even come up and join them on stage to jam or jive – thus, came their name Overjive Band.

They are regularly invited to perform at corporate events, conventions, and by-invitation-only shows.  Overjive followers may want to catch their gig as an acoustic band at Xands Food Bar (formerly Salo Park) in Malate, Manila every Tuesdays; at the Santai Restobar, Greenfield District, in Mandaluyong City every Thursday, and at the Café Tribu Bar and Restaurant at IPI Ortigas in Pasig every Friday.

You may want to hear their songs uploaded at the official Facebook page and YouTube channel.
