ALIUM is an indie rock/pop band from Cavite. This new band is composed of five young men who are passionate of their craft and dream big of having the world listen to their music.
The band was formed last March 2020 by the band’s bassist, Marcus. It was at the start of the pandemic when constant online discussions were made by Marcus with his soon-to-be bandmates. It was also a healthy way of focusing their attention on a plan that will usher in positivity.
The band consists of Eric Soriano (vocalist), Angelo Mendoza (rhythm guitarist), Marcus Bustarde (bassist), Mark Anacio (lead guitarist), and Andrei Manuel (drummer). The band is named ALIUM, coined by Marcus and their friend Yashe which means “different” in Latin.
“Si Mark since grade 8 pa kami mag kakilala, siya rin yung kasama ko sa naging first band namin noon. Si Eric nakilala ko through online, then naging friends kami. Nagkayayaan na mag jamming hanggang sa niyaya ko na siya magband since disbanded na yung Cliché that time. Then hinatak niya si Angelo na friend at ka-duo nya lagi sa gigs. Naghanap din kami ng drummer and si Andrei yung lumapit sa amin, mula sa bandang Flight’s Up na mga musician friends ko rin”, says Marcus.
“Duyog means ‘eclipse’ in English and translated as ‘harana’ in Bisaya dialect. It is a song written for lovers played by fate who, who ended up not being meant for each other. “
Marcus also acknowledges Ian Mabulac of Idiyanale Productions for the song’s excellent mix and arrangement.
Certainly, the future is bright for ALIUM. “Plano namin mairelease yung mga naisulat naming songs and hopefully makagawa ng EP or album next year or someday. At makatugtog sa malalaking venues after the pandemic”.
ALIUM’s “Duyog” is already expected to be a hit once launched.
