Miguel Salcedo Virtudazo is an aspiring singer-songwriter from Jasaan, Misamis Oriental. At a young age, he is starting to build his name as an artist with the recent release of his first single ‘A Girl’, which is available in all digital platforms.
“I began singing at 5 years old and started to make my own song at age 12. Tumugtog na din ako in sa iba’t-ibang venues like malls and radio stations”, says Miguel.
Miguel’s musical influences include Green Day, Blink 182, Guns N Roses, Radiohead, Nirvana etc. “Nakahiligan ko ring makinig ng mga 80’s music. Just this year at age 14, I am listening to pop music and influenced by artists like Moira, Jason Mraz & Ed Sheeran.”
“Actually, I don’t focus on one genre. Lahat ng genre, naa-appreciate and gusto ko. I also love jazz, metal, and classical music. I want to make my own music na walang genre na limit but letting my creativity flow lang.”
“As a musician, I am eager to learn more. I am very thankful to the people who never gave up on me though I have imperfections. I have rooms for improvement pa talaga but they still have faith in my talent.”
Miguel has also experienced challenges. “Dami! Hehehe… knowing I am too young and idealistic maybe. I am aware that I have many things to learn pa and I am grateful sa mga tao who understand and give me the chance to learn.”
He is thankful to all those supporting him. “First, I would like to thank God for blessing me with this passion. Of course – my family, relatives, and friends. Especially yung mga kahit sa online lang eh nafe-feel ko ang support nila at nakakataba ng puso.”
“I am very grateful to my record label Ramp Records, especially to Sir Ronald and Andoy Patuasic na boss namin. Narelease itong carrier single ko because of Ramp Records and malaking bagay talaga ito sa akin. I am also thanking my manager Madel Dreamer and all musicians and mga nasa production na nagbigay sa akin ng chance makaperform and matuto.”
Making an album is also part of his plans. “We are planning to launch an album hopefully next year. I am currently making more original songs and nagpo-polish din ng mga nagawa ko na.”
Miguel’s advice to fellow aspiring artists is to continue pursuing their love for music. “Never let other people define you. Kasi you know what you really want. You just have to work for your dreams and make it into a reality. And never ever give up on your dreams!”
